How do I get my girlfriend to use protection?

Joe M asked:

My girlfriend has accidents. I don’t need advice on getting her to see a doctor, or what types of treatment, etc, that’s all handled.
The problem is, she currently doesn’t use any protection. We’ll be out, and she’ll wet herself, or we’ll be cuddled up on the bed watching TV and I’ll suddenly be soaked and in a puddle, not to mention every single morning. How do I get her to wear a much needed diaper? I’m not talking about a little trickle once in a while, it’s a complete flood usually more than once a day. I told her not to be upset, but… it needs to be handled better.
I love my girlfriend, I’m not going to leave her over something that isn’t her fault.

What is telling her I have an STD going to accomplish?
As I mentioned, she’s been to the doctor and all that.
She’s stubborn and insists her problem isn’t that bad. I don’t want to insult her, so I haven’t even tried suggesting anything. I don’t know how I’d bring it up without hurting her feelings or something.
Not sharing a bed with her or cuddling is something I could not bare. Most guys **** to cuddle, I on the other hand cherish every moment of it.
She is currently unemployed, which has her stressed. I put a protector on the bed under the sheets. Sometimes I clean it up, but she usually does.
She’s the type who could loose a limb and insist it’s not that bad, as if having any sort of medical problem is a weakness.
She’s 22.
I see answers suggesting I find another girlfriend. How could somebody be so heartless as to leave somebody for a medical condition?
When I say “I love you”, it doesn’t mean “I love you, but only if you are in perfect health and have no problems that I have to deal with”. Her problems are just as important to me as my own.

Why don’t you put youreself in her shoes… If you were in love with somebody, and now you have a medical condition through no fault of your own, how would you feel if your significant other just walked away? Is that something you would actually do to somebody?
Anybody who suggested I leave her over this doesn’t deserve the joy and warm of another’s love.

Coping With Adult Incontinence

Adult incontinence and adult bed wetting causes extreme embarrassment to millions of sufferers. It is estimated that about 15 million people suffer in the United States, approximately 20% are men and 80% are women. Yet despite this high number only about 40% seek help.

There are probably several reasons for not going to the doctor. Some people believe that either the problem is not severe enough, as they only wet occasionally when they cough or laugh. They may believe that it is an age related problem and nothing can be done about it, or they may simply be too embarrassed to talk about the problem.

Any problem with incontinence should be discussed with a doctor and not ignored. A cure or help is possible and there may be a medical problem that needs treatment.

Incontinence in men may be caused by a number of things. Sufferers from prostate cancer may find that they have a problem after an operation. Your doctor will advise you on possible ways to deal with it and in many cases, given time, the problem is overcome.

Male incontinence may also be caused by other medical problems such as injury, Parkinson’s Disease, diabetes or Alzheimers.

Women are by far the biggest sufferers of incontinence. For many it begins when they are expecting a baby. Pressure on the bladder causes a continual feeling of needing to use the bathroom. After the birth this normally disappears but for some the problem continues. Childbirth itself can weaken the muscles in the pelvic floor making it difficult to control the bladder, which is why pelvic exercises are recommended for moms. Women also suffer from many of the diseases that affect men and again help is available to overcome the problem.
If you are suffering from temporary or long-term incontinence, or are just suffering from bed wetting, there are many excellent and discreet adult diapers on the market that can be bought locally or online.

Anyone suffering from incontinence should consult their doctor before undertaking any treatment. The author accepts no liability for the contents of the article nor for any actions taken as a result of reading the article.

Bedwetting is such an embarrassing condition that can cause a child to become withdrawn. The hardest for the child is that they have no control over the situation. Many parents that are not aware of this put additional pressure on the child, which does not help at all.

The thing that many parents need to grasp is that a child is more opt to stop the bedwetting if they are more supportive. In reality a child wants to rid this condition even more than the parent.

Wetting the bed is primarily caused by the inability to control the bladder. This condition is usually manageable after a child reaches the age of 5. If wetting the bed still persist after that point, then it is a time for concern.

Trying to find a bedwetting cure after a child reaches 5 years old can cause a lot of frustration. This is the time to start the process of locating the cause of the problem.

The reasons for a child to develop the enuresis (medical term for bedwetting) can vary. Some of the more common reasons are hormones, passed down from their parents or emotional stress.

There are many natural bed wetting cures that help both parent and child to get rid of this embarrassing situation. One thing a parent must never do however, is make the child feel like it is their fault.

Making a child feel guilty can catapult the situation into one that is almost unmanageable. The more guilt a child feels, the more serious the problem will become.

If you are a parent that has been going to the tough issues of wetting the bed with your child, then you will take great joy in curing bed wetting once and for all. Time, patience and compassion is the key to experiencing dry nights.

How would you respond to the dilemma?

Pryncess K asked:

You are a teacher in a preschool. A mother often tells you how proud she is of her daughter, although you have heard her speaking harshly to the child. One day the child come to school visibly upset and tells you that her mother ******* her in the middle of the night. You ask the mother about it, and she explains that she ******* her child because she wet the bed. When you tell the mother that bed-wetting is a not-unusual occurrence that usually disappears in time, she tells you that ******** cured her older daughter of bed-wetting.

Mar.R asked:

He has been seeing a psychiatrist for the past two years and she has really helped him, but his PT SD has been so severe he couldn’t go to work for this time. To get financial help (for his therapy sessions) he has had to start going back to work for a few hours one day a week and I know he can’t cope with it. All he does is stock shelves but because he’s so ill he takes any assigned task as a threat or insult and breaks down under the pressure. He doesn’t think he can do anything right, not even the simplest jobs. He comes home distressed and upset, he dreads going back to work the entire week before he actually has to, and he has started bed wetting and having nightmares again. He wakes up terrified and whatever I do I can’t calm him down.

I can’t work because we have a young son, which daycare costs would amount to more than he earns. I can’t leave our son with my husband for obvious reasons.

How can I get my husband to realize there’s nothing at work that can hurt him? Or how can I convince his therapist he’s not ready to go back to work? AND, how can I calm him down when he wakes in the night? He scares himself so much he can’t even lay down without the light on.

Any other help would be appreciated. I really can’t cope with this anymore.
